Our goal is to raise hypoallergenic, healthy, well-socialized puppies that will thrive in their new homes, whether this means a family or someone looking for an emotional support animal. All of our parent dogs have been genetically tested. We breed for health and personality and in our puppies.
A schnoodle is a hybrid combining a poodle and a schnauzer. Schnoodles are one of the original doodle crosses. Doodle crosses, and schnoodles in particular, are bred to benefit from hybrid vigor, which helps to reduce health issues often seen among purbreds and increase longevity, while maintaining a hypoallergenic coat.
Schnoodles combine the intelligence and athleticism of a poodle with the loyalty and affectionate disposition of a schnauzer. All of our schnoodles are raised in our home with a houseful of kids, teens down to toddlers. They are handled and interacted with on a daily basis. All of our puppies go to their new homes extremely well socialized and we are confident that any of our puppies will do well in a variety of situations. That being said, from a very young age, we can begin to see their individual temperaments and personalities emerge, so we're happy to help you find the puppy that is right for you!
One of the best parts of a schnoodle is that all schnoodle puppies are hypoallergenic, since both poodles and schnauzers are considered to be hypoallergenic! Schnoodles are non-shedding. It is rare for someone with dog allergies to have an issue with schnoodles. If you get hives from dog saliva, you will probably still have issues with the saliva of a schnoodle, but they are so smart and trainable, that you should be able to teach them not to do this.
Within their respective breeds, the poodle and schnauzer coats vary significantly. For our part, we focus on selecting poodle parents with thicker, coarser coats and schnauzer parents with "mixed" coats. This gives us schnoodle puppies with thicker, more uniform coats. The intent is to have a puppy with a coat that is easier to care for while being soft and luxurious. A good schnoodle coat is soft and pleasant to the touch, but resists matting and tangles. Most people find that they're able to let their dog's coat grow fairly long, with a couple of shorter trims given throughout the year. For an even thicker and more luxurious coat, we create F1b schnoodles: a first generation schnoolde crossed with a poodle. This tends to give a curly or wavy, thick coat, closer to a poodle coat. The puppies still exhibit the hybrid vigor of being crosbred; their mom is a schnoodle, so they maintain the lovable temperament of a schnoodle.
Schoodles will typcially weigh more than a poodle of comparable size, but less than a schnazuer. Our miniature schnoodles should typically weight around 15 lbs and stand about 15" tall. Our larger (also know as moyen-sized) schoodles should be more like 20 lbs and 17" tall. Due to them being a crossbeed, we do see quite a bit of variability in size, even within a litter. We're here to help you figure out which puppy will be the perfect size puppy for you!
We believe a good schnoodle puppy is the result of good breeding of well-matched parents, health and nutrition, and the environment in which its raised. As such, Moms are dewormed before whelping and puppies are dewormed regularly from the age of 2 weeks. We keep a close eye on their weight gain for the first 2 weeks, in particular. We strive to maintain clean, sanitary pens, cleaning them at least once a day. We introduce puppies to a potty tray system around 4-5 weeks of age. By the time they go home, they use this very well, cementing in their minds that there are specific places in which they should potty. This gives them a great foundation for housetraining! Puppies are thoroughly vet checked around 6 weeks old and recieve their first 2 puppies shots before going home around the age of 9 weeks.
We're always happy to help you in your selection of a puppy and answer any questions you may have about our program.
